The Goray Family

St. Pius X is so much more than a school-it is a family. Each day when I send my childen there, I do so with a sense of comfort and confidence, knowing they will be valued as individuals rather than simply another student in a classroom. I turst that they are cared for, supported, and recognized for who they are from the moment they walk through the doors until they return home. There is genuinenly no other place where i would rather have my children learn and grow.

We chose St. Pius X for its welcoming, Catholic community environment. We love that all three of our children can be at school together every day. The small class sizes allow for individualized attention and top-notch education. We love that the older students are taught to be role models for the younger students, paired up at various grades to create a special bond. We also love that so many families are involved in the daily activities at the school so not only the kids grow up together but the families create friendships that last from kindergarten to 8th grade. We've all heard "it takes a village", and St. Pius X is proving to be the best school community for our boys and our family.

History

St. Pius X was officially declared a parish December 28, 1954. During 1955, the parish church and school were built. In the fall of 1956, St. Pius X Parish School was opened.

The Pastor of the parish was Fr. O'Neill and the school was staffed by the Sisters of St. Francis Mary Immaculate based in Joliet. Sister Sheila was the first principal. St. Pius started out with grades one through six. The classes were held in what is today the primary wing of the school. Each year another grade was added. So today, what is known as the Martha and Mary Rooms were the seventh and eighth grade classrooms. Most of the teachers were Sisters with the help of a few lay teachers. The Sisters lived in the building that is the Parish Office today.

The school grew rapidly, because many families were moving to the suburbs at that time. From the beginning, St. Pius X has had a reputation of academic excellence and for producing outstanding Catholic leaders.
