3-4 Year Old and 4-5 Year Old Preschool Programs

A curriculum-guided program following the Diocesan Guidelines for Early Childhood Education.  St. Pius offers a "flexible" preschool program for children who will be 3 years old on or before September 1 or 4 years old on or before September 1st.

The St. Pius Preschool program is based upon the developmental needs of the children. It is designed to provide an encouraging family-like environment that allows children to mature at their own natural rate of social and intellectual growth. The children are encouraged to develop their abilities and comprehension of their environment through a center-based program with a wide variety of hands-on activities. This atmosphere of exploration and experimentation guides and encourages their learning.

Our preschool program assists each child in their earliest stages of their life-long journey of spiritual growth, by teaching basic Catholic practices, and incorporating strong Christian beliefs and values into all aspects of our day.

 A “Flexible” Program

The St. Pius Preschool Program is a “flexible” program in that parents are able to determine what type of program would work best for their family.

Students in the 3 Year Old Preschool Program attend a required minimum of two days per week.  For example, you may choose to have your child come two morning half-days, or two full-days, or one morning half-day and one full-day to meet this minimum requirement.

Students in the 4 Year Old Preschool Program attend a required minimum of three days per week.  For example, you may choose to have your child come three morning half-days, or three full-days, or two morning half-days and one full-day to meet this minimum requirement.

A minimum of six students is required per room in order for classes to be implemented. The maximum enrollment, per class, per day, is 12 students per teacher for our three year old program and 15 students per teacher for our four year old program.

Temporary and/or day-to-day scheduling changes to your child's preschool schedule are not allowed. After enrolling, if you wish to make permanent changes to your child’s preschool attendance, you can check with the school office for space availability.
